Middlebury State Airport
The Middlebury State Airport is a public-use airport owned by the State of Vermont and maintained by the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans), located approximately six miles away from the Town center and adjacent to the East Middlebury community. Initially developed in the 1950s, the airport was acquired by the State in 1970.

Middlebury State Airport - Master Plan Process
The video recording and presentation slides from the second public meeting have been posted on the VTrans webpage at the Middlebury State Airport website.

The Agency of Transportation (AOT) received comments on the final draft master plan report until January 27, 2023. The public was also able to submit comments to AOT. Additionally, VTrans prepared these responses to the following resident’s questions:
Who/what is authorized to 'approve' or 'accept' (a) the final draft and (b) whatever Master Plan emerges?
The Vermont Secretary of Transportation approves the final version of the Master Plan.
What role does the Town government play in that process?
The Town Selectboard designated a representative to the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), which met three times during the plan’s development. The TAC provided feedback to AOT during the airport master planning process. Also, the Town accommodated two Public Informational Meetings at the Town Office for community and stakeholder engagement.
