The easiest, simplest, and best way to save energy is to use less of it in the first place. We don't mean unplugging everything - we're advocating for modern comforts with common sense. After all, you don't pay for the energy you don't use. Efficiency First is better for your wallet and better for the planet.

Our public infrastructure and buildings should be teachers in energy responsibility and innovation. Our public infrastructure and buildings should be teachers in energy responsibility and innovation. Middlebury has recently installed LED streetlights, saving the town $30,000 on electricity bills over just two years. In addition, Middlebury's new Town Offices, which opened in 2016, participated in Efficiency Vermont's Net Zero Pilot Program. High efficiency standards were used in the design and construction of the building and the Town is the sole consumer of electricity from a local solar array that produces more than the amount of energy used in the building. In 2014, the wastewater treatment plant had an energy audit done and has accomplished many of the items suggested.
