The Board of Civil Authority (BCA) comprises the Selectboard, the Justices of the Peace and the Town Clerk. The BCA is responsible for hearing tax appeals and has several duties regarding the election process.

The Board of Abatement comprises members of the BCA, as well as the Town Treasurer and the Town Listers. The Board of Abatement's only function is to hear property tax abatement requests.
