Assessor & Lister
The Town of Middlebury's Assessor & Listers' Office is available to assist with any questions/concerns that someone might have regarding their property's assessment. The Office is responsible for:
- the appraisal and assessment of all taxable real estate,
- the maintenance of property information records, sales information, and tax maps,
- the preparation of the Town Grand List, &
- providing information to other departments, outside agencies, and to the general public as requested
The following property and tax-related information is available to the public in cabinets in the hallway just outside the Listers Office during regular business hours:
- Current Grand list
- Land Use information
- Physical descriptions of taxable properties
- Property ownership information, mailing addresses (updated on a regular basis)
- Property record files
- Property transfer information (Granter and Grantee, deed book and page, sale date, and sale price)
- Tax maps
Note: If you are seeking a copy of a tax bill, or have any specific questions about taxes owned on a property, please contact the Town's Finance staff.

8:30am to 4:30pm
Note - The office is typically staffed remotely; staff is in-person only on Wednesdays
