Recommendation for the Purchase of New Police Cruiser Approved
  • The Selectboard supported the recommendation of the Police Department to purchase one new police vehicle, a Dodge Durango Pursuit, from G. Stone Motors for $42,834.
Loan Application to State to Help Fund Future Wastewater Treatment Plant Design Work Approved
  • Public Works requested support for an application to the State of Vermont’s Clean Water Revolving Fund, for $271,000, to fund related engineering and design work for the possible future upgrading of the Town’s wastewater treatment facility. The application’s submittal was authorized by the Selectboard.
Initial Draft of FY25 Town General Fund & Capital Budget Presented
  • Town staff and the Selectboard reviewed the initial draft of the Town of Middlebury’s FY25 budget requests. The initially presented general fund budget totals $13,649,870, which is a 5.64% increase from the previous year. The proposed capital budget totals $1,909,521, resulting in a 0.02529 increase on the property tax rate. A public hearing on the proposed FY25 budget will be held by the Selectboard on January 9, 2024.
Text-Based Communication Platform Service For Town Outreach Efforts Discussed
  • The Manager’s Office presented a proposed agreement from TextMyGov to allow the Town to communicate to residents on important urgent Town-news alerts, including issues such as water shut-offs and road closures, via text messaging. The Selectboard requested additional information on the service, and will be reconsidering the proposal at the 12.19 meeting.
Approval of Check Warrants
  • The Selectboard approved expenditures, for the time period of November 29, 2023 through December 12 2023, in the amount of $874,082.71.
