Approval of TextMyGov Smart Texting Communication Contract
The Selectboard authorized a contract with TextMyGov, a texting technology that will allow the Town to communicate directly with residents about a variety of important public notices/news alerts, for a cost of $4,800 annually.
Proposed Grant Application for the Development of an Urban Forestry management Plan & Future Town Tree Planting Approved
A proposed grant application from the Departments of Public Works and Planning/Zoning to the Vermont Urban & Community Forestry Program, designed to increase and maintain a healthy canopy in disadvantaged neighborhoods, was supported by the Selectboard. Grant awards are between $5,000 and $50,000, and if acquired would be used to create a Middlebury Urban Forest Management Plan and a tree planting at the Town Recreation Center.
Ilsley Project Team Update Provided to Selectboard
Ilsley Library Director Dana Hart and IPL100 Team member Joe McVeigh submitted an update to the Selectboard on the updated cost estimates from the contracted design team for the proposed expansion/renovation of Ilsley Library, as well as the feedback the IPL team has received from its recent open house presentations.
Agreement with the Climate Economy Action Center of Addison County to Raise Public Awareness on Energy Resilience Efforts Approved
The approved agreement would be between the Town’s Energy Committee and the Climate Economy Action Center of Addison County for the development of an interactive climate education website and accompanying Energy Navigator Program. This agreement will be paid for through the recently received $4,000 Municipal Energy Resilience Program Community Building mini-grant.
Updated Proposed FY25 Town General Fund Budget Presented
Town staff presented to the Selectboard an updated proposed general fund operating budget, with proposed changes that further reduce the proposed budget by $40,043, with a new proposed tax rate of 0.88686.
Approval of Check Warrants
The Selectboard approved expenditures, for the time period of December 12, 2023 through December 19, 2023, in the amount of $384,323.53.
