Applicants Nominated to Fill Vacant Seat on Means Woods Board of Trustees
The Selectboard approved the initial nomination of five applicants to fill the current vacant seat on the Means Woods Board of Trustees. The appointment for this position will take place at the 1.23.2024 Selectboard meeting.
 
Public Hearing Held on FY25 Town Proposed General Fund Budget
The Selectboard held a public hearing for receiving public input on the proposed FY25 Town General Fund budget. A number of citizens submitted questions to Town staff and the Board regarding both proposed expenditures and the use of various revenue sources.
 
Presentation by Charter House Coalition on FY25 Funding Request
The Executive Director of the Charter House Coalition provided the Board and public with a brief summary of the array of services offered by the organization to both Middlebury and the surrounding communities. Each of the service agency funding requests to the Town will be reviewed as part of the overall annual budget process.
 
Middlebury Regional Emergency Medical Services Presentation on Requested Annual Funding Increase
Leadership from Middlebury Regional EMS presented a detailed presentation on the financial status of the organization, as a follow-up to the request received by the Town in August for an increase in the Town’s annual financial support to the organization (up to $118,986 from last year’s $84,960).
 
Update from Ilsley Library Project Team Provided on Estimated Project Timeline and Costs for proposed Library Expansion/Renovation
Leadership from the IPL100 Team and the ReArch Project Manager presented to the Selectboard the most updated estimated costs associated with the project, as well as where the project presently is in the overall project timeline. The present estimate for the total project budget is $16,027,747, once credits and rebates are applied.
 
Update on Recent Activities of Selectboard’s Policy Review Committee
Town staff provided a brief update to the Selectboard on the recent work of the restarted Policy Review Committee. The board discussed seeking a regular written update on recommendations from the Committee as they review topics. The Selectboard also supported the Committee looking into two additional policy topics: the naming of public spaces, and the placement of religious objects on public property.
 
Approval of Check Warrants
The Selectboard approved expenditures, for the time period of December 20, 2023 through January 9, 2024, in the amount of $599,032.12.
