Updates on Recent Town Water System Issues Provided
Leadership from the Public Works Department provided the Selectboard with updates on not only how the recent leaks and water service disruptions have been addressed and steps to address broader issues facing the system in the future, and how the Department is working to ensure improved public notice when the water system’s service is temporarily disrupted.
Amendment to Friends of Ilsley Library MOU Approved to Assist with Capital Fundraising Campaign
As part of the Ilsley Library’s ongoing planned renovation/expansion project, library staff received support from the Selectboard to adjust the existing memorandum of understanding with the Friends of Ilsley Public Library group, to allow the group to act as the initial receiver of any donations/gifts made to support the IPL capital campaign. Funds would then be transferred to the Town’s capital budget accounts.
Library’s Temporary Site Downtown During Planned Construction Selected
The Selectboard approved a letter of intent with the National Bank of Middlebury to allow the Ilsley Library to operate on the first floor of the Bank’s Duclos Building on Main Street during the duration of the planned renovation/expansion of the Ilsley Library site.
Library Grant Application to State for Capital Support Approved
As part of the Library’s ongoing capital fundraising campaign for the planned renovation/expansion, the Library staff prepared a grant application to the State of Vermont’s Department of Libraries, seeking $1,500,000 from the Department’s capital project grant program. The Selectboard supported the submitting of the application.
Proposed Policy Reform to Town’s Bidding/Contracting Security Policy Adopted
The Selectboard authorized a change in the Town’s current Bid and Contract Security Policy, such that the bonding requirement would no longer be required for Town roadway paving contracts, which would help expand the pool of possible contract bidders and save the Town resources on the contract’s overall costs. This change will stay in place for three years, to provide Public Works the opportunity to determine the value of this policy change.
Approval of Check Warrants
The Selectboard approved expenditures, for the time period of February 14, 2024 through February 29, 2024, in the amount of $819,423.79.
