Middlebury Selectboard Swears-In Recently Elected Members & Elects Leadership Positions
Following the recent Town of Middlebury Town Meeting and subsequent local elections, Fred Dunnington and Farhad Khan were sworn in to new terms on the Selectboard by Town Clerk Karin Mott. The Selectboard also elected Brian Carpenter as Chair and Andy Hooper as Vice-Chair of the Selectboard.
 
Selectboard Organizational Decisions Approved
The Selectboard made a number of decisions relating to its regular operations, including: setting the regular Selectboard meeting day as the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 7pm, selecting the Addison Independent as the Town’s newspaper of record, adopting the 2024 Selectboard Expenditure Review Roster, and approving the proposed 2024 Selectboard Operating Principles document.
 
Town Delegates to the County Solid Waste Management District Appointed
The Selectboard appointed Diane Mott and Richard McKerr as the Delegate and Alternate Delegate respectively, to the Addison County Solid Waste Management District Board of Supervisors for 1-year terms.
 
Grant Application to Assist in Funding of Proposed Water Tank Construction Approved
An application prepared by Public Works staff to the U.S. Northern Borders Grant Program to help fund the construction costs of the proposed new Town water tank on Chipman Hill was approved by the Selectboard. The application is seeking $1,000,000 in funding from the program.
 
Authorization to Proceed with Intent to Bond for Library Expansion/Renovation Supported
As part of the procedural preparations for the upcoming bond vote by the Town’s residents for the proposed renovation and expansion of the Ilsley Public Library, the Selectboard authorized the Town Manager to submit an official Declaration of Official Intent to bond for an amount not to exceed $16,995,000.
 
Naming of Private Road Adjacent to Route 7 North Approved
As the result of a recent building permit approval for an additional structure, the private road at 1080 Route 7 North in Town was required by State E911 Addressing Standards to adopt a name for that existing private access roadway. The Selectboard approved the name ‘Acker Farm Road’, which was requested by the property owner.
 
Approval of Check Warrants
The Selectboard approved expenditures, for the time period of March 1 2024 through March 12, 2024, in the amount of $559,301.98.
