South Street Waterline Improvements 2024
The Town of Middlebury is continuing a waterline improvement project that will impact South Street primarily from Green Mountain Place to Porter Field Road, as well as Chipman Park North and Benedict Lane. The primary excavation for the waterline will be located on the eastern side of the roadway on South Street. In addition to waterline improvements, there will be sidewalk replacement along the length of South Street. Traffic will be limited to one-way during the hours of construction. Parking along the street will be limited during the scope of this project. Service lines will be installed for both sides of the roadway as will sidewalk replacement. The project is anticipated to begin on April 22nd and will run until July.
The contractor is permitted to work between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Authorization from the Town is required in advance for any work past 5pm, weekends, or holidays. During construction, a water or sewer service may be off-line for no more than eight (8) hours. The contractor is required to provide notice to any property a minimum of 24 hours prior to a water or sewer service being off-line for a scheduled outage.
During construction, we will have an on-site engineer from Landmark Engineering and Design, LLC to oversee the work but also address immediate concerns.
